Saturated steam is more suitable when steam is used as heat transfer medium. An important characteristic of saturated steam is the one-to-one correspondence between pressure and temperature. The temperature of the steam is determined by determining the pressure of the steam. Sometimes the control of the steam temperature is achieved by controlling the steam pressure, and then the heat transfer temperature difference and output capacity of the heat exchanger are controlled. .

The steam is heated at a constant temperature during the heating process. When the saturated steam condenses and releases heat, the pressure and temperature remain constant. It is necessary to carefully select the selection and design of the working steam pressure

The delivery pressure of the steam system should consider economy and rationality. The steam distribution system is an important connection between the steam source and the steam consumer. The steam distribution system must provide the correct flow rate and the correct pressure with minimum heat loss and minimum cost.

We must always remember that dry saturated steam (not superheated steam) is used in process and heating applications. Theoretically, the pressure of steam delivery depends on the highest pressure required by the steam point equipment.

But we must remember that the pressure of the steam will drop after passing through the delivery system due to the steam condensation caused by the flow resistance of the steam pipe and the loss of heat dissipation. Therefore, a certain margin must be considered when determining the delivery pressure.

When choosing a work pressure, we must consider the following points:
• The pressure required by the steam equipment
• Pressure drop due to resistance to flow along the pipe (friction)
• Heat loss from piping
• Condensate back pressure

We know that steam has a smaller specific volume under high pressure, so when steam is delivered at a pressure higher than the operating pressure, the pipe diameter required to deliver the same amount of steam is relatively small.
